PLOT:
The time has come again for seven Magi to assemble, and resume the quest. Each master will employ a servant from one of the seven classes. Together they will be a part of a battle royale to obtain the one and only Holy Grail. Also known as the Holy Grail Wars.
Sixty years ago, the most powerful Magi from the three biggest Magi families (Mato, Tohsaka, and Einzbern) came together to summon the most powerful of artifacts, the Holy Grail. They had hoped that this would allow them to unlock the Root of Magic in order to fully master the arcane arts beyond normal means. However, the Grail would only grant one wish to one Magi. It chose seven Magi who it deemed worthy to possess it, requiring the Magi to each summon a Heroic Spirit as a servant, facing each other in combat until but one Servant still stands. Only then would the Grail appear and grant both servant and master each their hearts greatest desires. The First Grail War ended in tragedy, but sixty years later the Grail has again chosen seven individuals.
The rules of the Grail War are simple. Each magus, better known as Masters, are aided by one of the seven summoned spiritual familiars known as Servants, who are the reincarnations of legendary souls from all across time. These resurrected Heroic Spirits, possess superhuman characteristics and wield powerful artifacts or abilities called Noble Phantasms. A Noble Phantasm's hidden abilities may be released by invoking its true name, but casual brandishing of a Noble Phantasm is best avoided, for symbolic Noble Phantasms usually belie a Servant's identity, diminishing that Servant's competitive advantage. Specific legends may be summoned with the aid of catalysts, which are artifacts, ideas, or experiences similar or of value to the desired Servant. Only one Servant can be summoned in each war from one of seven classes: Saber, Archer, Lancer, Berserker, Rider, Assassin, and Caster.
The Holy Grail is a spiritual artifact, so only astral entities, such as Servants, are capable of touching it; this restriction forces Master and Servant to cooperate with each other against rival pairs, even if a situation entails fighting to the death. Masters control Servants with three Command Spells, which are crystallized miracles issued by the Holy Grail that manifest on a Master's hand. When activated, Command Spell permit a Servant to accomplish an incredible feat, or alternatively provide Masters with the authority to issue an irrevocable and absolute order to a Servant. In the event of a Master's demise, a Servant may choose to bind him or herself to another Master; if a Servant is slain, a Master may ally with a wayward Servant or pursue sanctuary with the Holy Grail War's impartial supervisor, who is traditionally a delegate of the Church.
RP SPECIFICS:
Everyone will be playing either a Magi, a Servant, or both. I want to put a limit of two characters each, with the exception of myself as I shall be also be playing the role of the Supervisor. Also, if you wish to play two characters you must choose one Master and one Servant. The reason for this shall be explained later.
As I wish to stay as true to the canon of the series as possible, one servant role will be precast. (as the series states that for the first 4 Grail Wars, Assassin was the same Heroic Spirit) Now anyone who has seen Fate/Zero or wishes to watch a few episodes in order to understand how Assassin is in the series may ask me to play him, otherwise I shall do so for one of my characters. I shall also be playing another Servant.
Again, for canon reasons there are some legendary heroes that cannot be used for Servants in this RP, however there are so many out there to choose from you shouldn't have problems. Here is the list of legendary people you can not choose for a servant character. I am only counting those from the 4th and 5th Grail Wars:
King Arthur, Hercules, Medusa, Gilgamesh, Cu Chulainn, Sasaki Kojiro, Medea, Hassan-i-Sabah, Alexander the Great, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, Bluebeard (Gilles de Rais), and Lancelot.
I would also note that in this series Arthur is actually Artoria, the daughter of Uther Pendragon who was pushed into the role of son and had to hide her gender from all except Guinevere.
Servant classes have powers with them, some are double edged swords. Heroic Spirits can be summoned into several different classes depending on the circumstances. Here is an explanation.
Saber: Knight of the Sword, considered one of the Three Knight classes. Servants placed within this class are agile and powerful melee warriors adept at swordsmanship. The qualifying conditions require the Heroic Spirits to have legends as a knights of the sword. Servants of this class have high ratings in all categories, and the compatible Heroic Spirits usually excel in delivering powerful burst attacks. The Class Abilities include the strongest Magic Resistance of all classes, and the Riding ability like the Rider Class.
Archer: Knight of the Bow, placed among the Three Knight classes. Servants placed within this class are usually proficient with projectiles and excel in possessing powerful Noble Phantasms. More so than any other class, their true strength, and the qualifying condition is determined by the possession of powerful projectile weapons or special abilities related to projectile weapons. Their main class ability is "Independent Action”; the ability to act independently for a length of time without an active supply of mana from their Master. This makes them suitable as scouts; it allows them to survive for duration of time if their contract with their Master is severed with more time granted by higher ranks. They also have the class ability of Magic Resistance; however, it is not as great as that of the Saber class.
Lancer: Knight of the Lance, considered one of the Three Knight classes. Servants placed within this class, many of which are Heroic Spirits who were knights, are very agile, proficient in hit-and-run tactics that capitalize on range and speed, and skilled with long-range melee weapons such as spears and lances. The qualifying conditions to be placed within the class are second only to the Saber class, requiring overall excellent attributes and a high agility attribute. Their only particular class ability is Magic Resistance.
Berserker: Servants placed within this class are always Heroic Spirits who have gone berserk during battle at least once in their lifetime. This trait allows them to use the special ability Mad Enhancement, which trades their consciousness and sanity for a large power boost. The abuse of this to create powerful Servants has made the class referred to as the strongest of all seven classes. It is possible to specify in the summoning ritual that the Servant be placed under the Berserker class for those familiar with the workings of the Grail System. This class comes at a price, as the Berserker class is the most difficult to control and a Master must expend a large amount of additional mana merely to maintain the Berserker, and the affected Heroic Spirit may lose access to certain abilities or even Noble Phantasms depending on how much sanity it taken away for power. Masters are unable to utilize coordination with their Servant unless gifted with superb control over them. The lack of complex rational thinking keeps them from being able to follow more than simple directions, and it may even require Command Spells to keep them from acting on their own.
Rider: Servants placed within this class are those known for riding mounts, living beasts or human constructs, during their lives. They generally have lower attributes compared to the Three Knight Classes, but the abilities of the mounts described in their legends compensate by granting them powerful Noble Phantasms or abilities. They have the class abilities of Magic Resistance and a high rank in Riding, allowing them to fully utilize the abilities of their mounts.
Assassin: Servants of this class are skilled at operating covertly, stealthy, and silently. This class is one of the weaker classes at fighting; as its members possess low attributes due to not having glorious legends as heroes; so it instead specializes in killing Masters rather than Servants. It is an oddity compared to the more formal knight classes who believe in fair duels and chivalry in combat; they will attack using the most unfair and favorable conditions. The Assassins' special class ability is ‘‘Presence Concealment”; which allows them to remain undetected when spying or preparing to ambush their targets.
Caster: Servants placed within this class are adept in magecraft, and the only qualifying condition is the mastery of sorceries of the highest caliber compared to the specific parameter requirements of the other classes. Their class abilities are Territory Creation, altering the surrounding lands in favor of their sorcery, and Item Construction, which allows the magus to create magical items and tools.

My only stipulation on Magi is that only one Magi from each of the three biggest families can be in this, first come first serve. We do require one of each though. The Tohsaka family are calm, collected, and are prideful of their magic. They are pretty much a Merlin sort of Magi. The Einzberns are from Scandinavian decent, known for their white hair and red eyes.
For creating a Servant, I wish you to message me with this sheet filled out. This is to have things secret. My idea is to randomly assign Servants to Masters, and also assign the classes to the servants after I get them all, so that even if horrible death happens to a Master or a Servant is defeated (which will happen, otherwise this RP will never end), then people are not necessarily left out of the RP.
