Without question, Nox rushed over to Lux and Joe while Mark took on a whole army. He skidded across the pavement, ignoring the sudden road burn he was feeling and placed his hands on Josephine’s and Lux’s shoulders. Looking between the two, he could see that Lux had a lot of deep cuts on his backside and arms. Blood stained his outfit and dripped downwards like wax melting from a candle.
As for Josephine, she was simply over-heated and exhausted from sending out fiery blasts to repel the beasts. She was breathing heavily but otherwise, was relatively okay for the most part. However, she did have some cuts along her legs and a few smaller one on her arms. Which then made Nox realize that Lux was doing whatever he could to protect her from harm.
“Come on. Let’s get going.” Nox said as he helped the two exhausted kids to their feet. “Get up. We need to get out of here now. Those things will eat us for dinner. And Lux? I don’t know how much more magic you can use to transform. You look beaten.”
“Just make sure she gets out of here first.” Lux said as he shoved his brother away and fell back onto his bottom. “Make sure she’s safe first.”
“Don’t be stupid.” Hissed Josephine. “I’ve been beaten a lot worse than this. Get your scrawny butt up and come with us.” She then didn’t give him any other choice as she reached down and tore him to his feet.
The kids all moved towards the side and parked themselves down on a grassy patch beneath a tree. Out of sight, they hoped. And there, they watched Mark unleash his fury. Attacking each enemy with such a strong blow and clever moves. The three kids watched in absolute awe at this, as they’ve never seen him fight like this before.
Then Ikuki came in, turning the enemy’s weapon into jello. Nox laughed, finding the usage of magic rather clever. Then the pair tag teamed and struck their enemy with such a force that they were simply, defeated.
“That’s so awesome.” Nox chimed.
“Man...He’s so cool.” Josephine said with a heavy sigh.
“Wow...” Lux simply said in awe.
Finally, the duo rushed over to the group, with Ikuki doing minor healing spells to heal their wounds. Josephine was the one who managed to answer the question as Lux seemed very quiet about it all. “We’re doing better now. Thank you so much for this healing!”
“How did this happen?” Asked Nox.
“They just showed up. Davis was showing us some cool moves that he learned from a movie and we were trying to do them. We were just minding our own business and they just...came out from the woods and started to attack. Davis tried to do his best but he’s...not good at fighting. Only dodging hits and hiding.” She sighed.
“Where is he now?” Asked Nox.
“Somewhere around here. Probably hiding because he’s a chicken.” She frowned. “But oh my goodness. I am so glad you guys came when you did! Thank you both so much!”
“Yes!” Lux finally chimed in. “Thank you so much...I...I wish I was stronger...but I tried.”

"Lux, you don't ever have to thank me for saving your life. That's what I do. I've made it clear how much I hate violence, but I will wipe the floor with anyone who ever tries to hurt you or Nox. Don't you ever think you don't mean something, that goes for both of you." he said as he flipped his visor up. Tears were streaming down his face and he tried to hide the blood from his nose, but otherwise he didn't really care if anyone else in the area saw his face. "When I saw you and your friend being attacked, that scared the hell out of me. You two are more than just students, you're family. I can't explain why, but you are." he said, throwing his arms around both Lux and Nox, squeezing them in a tight hug. "You're both going to be something great, someday. And I hope I'm still in your lives, to see it."
"Maybe don't make this a habit, though." he said, forcing a light laugh. "I really prefer to solve problems, peacefully."
"That could be a problem." Ikuki reminded him. "If they attacked out of nowhere, unprovoked..."
"I know. I'm trying not to think about it." Mark sighed.
"We're going to have to prepare for more of them, whether you want to think about it or not."
"I'm not going to keep killing them. These jerks were attacking Lux, it was justified." he said, bitterly.
"I know, I'm not asking you to. It wouldn't weigh well on my conscious, either. But...I don't even know what they are. I've never seen any creature like them." she said, after healing the kids and moving to examine one of the carcasses. "They look reptilian, but they have flesh and mane. I'd almost think they were draconic in nature, if it wasn't for the lack of scales."
"I'm more concerned about how they got into the city. Even if they're weird mutants from the Expanse, there's no way they would've been able to sneak into the city without security knowing about it." Mark said. He held out both hands for both Lux and Joe, to help them back onto their feet. "They were organized. They didn't send a group to target a couple of kids, I think they knew somebody would show up to help. Can you take them back home? I think I need to look deeper into this. If there was one small group, there has to be more. I'll look around the city and see if there's been any reports about attacks, anywhere else."
"Nuh-uh. I'm not leaving you. I know Hyper X works alone, but you're stuck with me, now." Ikuki protested. "We can both take them back home, and then I will go with you into the city."
Mark started to protest, but Ikuki quickly shut him down.
"I am going with you. You're exhausted, and if you use anymore of your power...I don't know, but your nose is bleeding and that's probably bad." she protested.
Mark made a face at her, but it quickly turned into a smug grin. "And you're in love with me." he teased, flipped his visor back down.
"Oh my god I was hoping you didn't hear that..." she said, hoping he couldn't pick up on how embarrassed she was.
"Okay, fine. If it's okay with you two, we'll take you back to my place then Ikuki and I will check out any recent reports of similar attacks. You guys good with that?" he asked the boys.

The boys hugged him back, super relieved that he showed up and felt so strongly over them. When they saw his face being revealed, they could see the blood and tears on his face. It was very apparent that he meant what he said to them. Even in such a short period of time, the twins warmed his heart as he did theirs. Josephine gasped when she saw his face but knew enough to not make a scene of it. The surprise was definitely something unexpected and she wasn’t sure on what to think about it. At least, until she heard Nox whisper to her; “Don’t tell anyone his secret.” “Please...” She waved her hand at him. “I’m not telling anyone.” Nox smiled to her before looking back to the others as they discussed their thoughts about the creatures that attacked. Then a thought came to mind as he turned back to Josephine and said; “Joe? I’m confused. If they were reptilian looking, why did they attack you? You have reptilian-“ “We are not the same.” She hissed at him with annoyance. Nox backed away from her. “Sorry Joe...” Lux warned his brother; “Careful, she can light herself on fire.” Then when they were in talks about letting the boys go home, Nox was fine with it but Lux wasn’t. He didn’t know where Davis went and that would mean Josephine would be left alone without anyone being with her. And he wasn’t going to have that happen. “No.” Lux shook his head. “Can we stay with you for a bit? I’m curious as well but I can’t leave Joe behind. We don’t know where Davis went.” “Probably ran home like the chicken he is.” She rolled her eyes. “If...that’s okay.” Lux said to them. “I don’t want her being left alone. Not when she has a big influence on keeping me alive before you guys showed up. She’s...actually pretty amazing with her fire skills and skateboarding skills!” “I was trying to just keep us alive...” Josephine rubbed the back of her head a bit sheepishly. “That’s all I was doing...”
“Well, it was really cool. Regardless.” Lux chimed to her. “I wish I had that much magical ability. I’d be able to do more than just turn into a sword.”
“Well...you survived extreme heat as a sword, I think that saved you. Otherwise, I’d probably burn your skin. And you’d be charcoal.”
Nox had a small smile on his face, hiding away his doubt that Lux could do any strong magic at all. At least, from what he read, Lux was lucky enough to actually be able to turn into a sword. But he wasn’t going to ruin their moment with details. As he still wasn’t quite sure on what to think about their lineage.
“I...hope you don’t mind me tagging along.” Josephine said to Ikuki and Mark. “I promise that I won’t get into anything. I’ll stand right beside the brothers!” She then bounced herself in between them, placing her hands on both of their backs.

"No," Mark firmly objected. "You two already got hurt, I'm not taking you right back into the same danger. Plus, you're still hurt. Ikuki may have prevented you from needing stitches, but you still need medical attention." he sighed, as he didn't want to come off sounding like he didn't think they could take care of themselves. "Look, seeing you being attacked like that, scared the hell out of me. I won't lie, I'm being totally selfish right now. My protective instincts are overriding my hero instincts and I would never forgive myself if I let you get hurt, again."
"A suggestion?" Ikuki interrupted. "We all go back to the hero hub. There are police scanners there, right? That way, they can get bandaged up while we scan for anymore threats, safely. Joe will be safe there, and if we hear reports of anymore of those creatures, we can assess the threat from a safe distance before letting the boys decide if they want to come or not."
Mark sighed, and let himself think about it for a few seconds before objecting. If he took them all back home, Alex would protest and either make them all stay home or want to join. Neither option was preferable. If they all left right now, then that would put the kids in immediate danger, again. Ikuki was right, this was the most logical option. "Okay. Yeah. You're right. That's the best option we've got. Only one problem," he reminded them. "I can't carry that many people, on my bike."
"I have a car, ya' derp." Ikuki bopped him lightly, on the shoulder. "How do you think I've been getting everywhere, so fast?"
"Huh. I don't know why that never occurred to me. Okay, well if it's okay with you all, Ikuki can take you to our hero hub. There might be some other people there and it is just a teensy bit haunted, but you'll be safe, get some first aid, and we can decide where we want to go from there. We'll focus on any missing persons, too. If your friend is missing or thinks you're missing, I'm sure there will be reports. Sound like a good deal?" he asked the boys, and Joe.

When Mark rejected them coming along, Josephine was just about to oppose him. She even opened her mouth once more to say something but Ikuki prevented the inevitable from happening when she threw out a suggestion. Josephine then glanced over to her when she mentioned the Hero Hub.
That, brought her and the twins to look at one another. Hoping that one of them were familiar with the term. But unfortunately, none of them were. However, when it was mentioned that they could perform scans to locate missing people, Josephine was immediately interested with the idea. She then said; “Cool! We can see if Davis is okay or not. I...like to hope that he is...” She frowned. “I don’t know what I’d do if they caught him.”
“Beat them up!” Lux chimed with an achey fist pump. “If he’s caught, we’ll go and rescue him! It’s simple as that!”
“I doubt that we’d be able to go along, Lux.” Nox said to him. “You two couldn’t even level one of them, let alone entering their hideout and being surrounded by more of them. What are you going to do if you did end up going? Hm? We’d just be a liability to Hyper X.”
Lux wanted to fight against him but Nox was right. He and Josephine did fairly well against them but if it weren’t for Mark and Ikuki showing up, they’d be dead. “Fine...” He crossed his arms over his chest and winced as he recalled that he was still in pain from the attacks. But he tried to hide it as best as he could. “We’ll go there and try to do the scanner thing and stay put...I guess.”
“You might get to see other heroes.” Chimed Nox as he was trying to help convince both Josephine and Lux that staying in a safe zone was a good idea. “Maybe see if you can get one of the cool heroes to even help rescue Davis, if he’s captured. That is.”
“Fine...Let’s go to this Hub.” Sighed Lux. “That and I can get patched up...” He turned to Josephine and grinned. “Who knows? Maybe you’ll see some really cool heroes there? Right?”
“I suppose...” Josephine still wasn’t too interested with staying safe. “I doubt they’d want to talk to a bunch of kids though.” She scowled. “I’m sure they have something much better to do than that.”
“You never know.” Said Nox as he pushed them over to Ikuki to get read to travel to the Hub. “Let’s get going, just so those things don’t come back and harass us again.” He then turned to Ikuki and Mark. “We’re ready to go! I’ll make sure they don’t try to sneak off with another team or anything!”
“Nox. You’re such a goody-two-shoe.” Lux rolled his eyes at him as he brushed his legs off and pouted. “Always willing to tattle.”
“Someone needs to be the voice of reason out of the three of us.” He gestured to himself, Lux, and Josephine. “You two are too ready to jump into the boiling pot of water without figuring things out first. So I’ll have to make sure you stay safe. Plus, you don’t want to make them more worried about us.”
“Sorry...” Lux apologized to Mark and Ikuki. “We were just training and minding our own business. We didn’t think those things would come and attack at a skateboard park...” He gestured to the massive park. “Lots of kids come here on the daily to play around. It’s so weird that they chose here. But then again, if they were hungry...I guess kids would be the easiest to eat...” He shook his head. “Alright. I promise that Josephine and I will be good at the hub. And if he is captured...I guess go from there?”
“Let’s go then! If he is captured, I don’t want them eating Davis!” Josephine flailed. “He’s like a brother to me. He saved me from a lot of bad stuff, growing up. I’d like to try and do something about it.”
“Okay! Okay!” Nox backed away. “Ikuki? Where did you park? We’ll follow you there.”

It wasn't a super long drive back to the hub, but it wasn't super short, either. It was the same run-down house they'd all met at, and it was almost a strange feeling all being back there again, after they'd bonded so much. Usually, Mark just saw it as a place of business and the heroes who lived there as coworkers. So many people would come and go through there, that he never tried to make it a point to make friends.
Not many people were there today, and Mark assumed it was because of the attacks going on around town. Of course, one resident was there. He was always there. And he absolutely took note of Ikuki wearing a suit, when she took her helmet off. She wasn't concerned about a secret identity, like Mark was. He was high-profile and had his own business and a family, she didn't.
"He made you a suit, already? Dang, remind me to tell Jaguaro. He owes me money." Ripley said as he faded into sight.
"You made a bet...on me making her a suit?" Mark said.
"No, we made a bet that you two would hook up." Ripley shrugged. "Jags thinks you're a perfect gentleman, but I know you always fuck on a first date." he said completely nonchalantly, as he shrugged.
This caused both Ikuki and Mark to blush furiously, though Mark couldn't be seen under the mask. "I...I'm not like that!" he looked to Ikuki. "I would never...! Well, once, but other than that, never- How do you even know anything about me?!" he turned his attention to Ripley.
"Sometimes I get bored and follow people home." Ripley shrugged. "Just a little slight haunting, maybe watching you sleep every now and then. Don't worry, I keep all your secrets. I file them away to use as blackmail." he said with an evil grin.
"I thought you were tethered here??" Mark said, angrily.
"Pffff. I never said that. This used to be my house, dude. You guys just up and decided to live here. I can go wherever the heck I want."
Mark didn't get a chance to say anything back to him, before Ikuki swatted at the ghost with an iron pan, causing him to disperse.
"Aw screw yo-!" Ripley didn't finish as he simply disappeared.
"For future reference, iron disperses spirits." Ikuki said, putting a hand on her hip. "Don't worry, he'll be fine once he pieces himself back together. And maybe a little more polite."
"I am starting to think I might be in love with you." Mark said, just quiet enough that one almost couldn't hear it. Ikuki didn't respond or acknowledge that he'd said it, but she most definitely heard it and had a slight, knowing smirk on her face.
"Okay!" Mark quickly changed the subject. "So, we've got a police scanner here," he said as he flipped it on. "If there's anything going on in town, this is the best way of knowing. It's a little old school, but sometimes that's what works best." he also rummaged through the kitchen cabinet, grabbing a few first aid kits. "Genesis isn't here to heal you guys completely, but this is the next best thing we've got. Bandages, gauze, alcohol. We'll probably need to get those wounds sterile; we don't know what these creatures are and don't want to risk any infections. If you guys need stitches or anything, one of us can take you to a hospital while the other can look for your friend."
"I don't think they were interested in eating anyone." Mark tried to assure Joe. "They had you outnumbered and outpowered. I know how pack predators work...if they were attacking for food, they would've killed you. They were provoking...trying to get you to call out for someone else. They were trying to draw somebody else out, and I have a feeling it's connected to whoever Apollo is looking for."
"I swear, once this is all over, I owe you two a nice, fun day. No bad guys, no hero stuff. Just a fun day at the beach or something." he said to Lux and Nox. "And maybe dinner?" he said as he looked to Ikuki, specifically.
"I'll hold you to that." Ikuki smiled.

It was a shocker when they saw Ripley appear out from nowhere and float around Mark and Ikuki, taunting them over a bet. The three stopped walking and talking to watch the chaos unfold as Ripley mentioned something about following him and watching Mark sleep. Such actions like that were a bit on the creepy-stalker side of things but none of the children said anything.
Then they heard him mentioned “fucking on the first date.” For Lux, it went over his head and he had no idea what that meant. Nox choked on air but made sure he remained silent and Josephine snickered as she knew exactly what he was talking about. She heard the other ruffians, that she was trapped with, say such foul language and then be open about what it meant.
Then Ikuki smacked him with an iron pan, forcing the ghost to disappear from sight. Nox laughed a bit nervously about it, Josephine made a mental note to do that if she were ever haunted by a ghost, and Lux was confused as to why Ikuki would’ve done such a thing. To him, the ghost was just being a ghost. Goofy. Haunting. Troublesome. It all fit the meaning of being a ghost. Right?
Disappointed that there weren’t any other heroes within the area, she sighed and followed Mark over to the scanner. Looking at it, she tilted her head, wondering if it could locate Davis. Or if it was just something that caught frequencies and just repeated it. But she didn’t ask as she was fixed on trying to locate her missing “brother.”
“I’m surprised there isn’t a medic here.” Nox said to Mark as he sat down beside his brother. “You’d think for a hub, there would be someone that could be...well...More than just one someone, is what I mean.”
“There’s a lot going on in the city.” Josephine said to him as she could hear reports bouncing over the radio. “I guess there was a major attack in several areas. One of them being that museum you met me at.”
“Really?” Lux asked.
“Yeah, it didn’t say why it was happening...” She shrugged as she was growing more and more disappointed about the fact Davis wasn’t found yet. She then heard Mark say something about the creatures would’ve killed them instead of mess with them, if they had wanted to devour them. “Then...Who are they even looking for? Why would they even want us? We’re just a bunch of dumb kids.”
“Excuse me?” Nox frowned. “I am not dumb.”
“Okay, we’re a bunch of dumb kids stuck with a nerd.” She rolled her eyes.
“You can be-“ Before Nox could really annoy Josephine with the technical details, he stopped as he heard an abrupt noise outside the door. He then turned as the door opened and two figures appeared. One of them was carrying their teammate as they entered the hub. She walked over to a vacant couch and lay her teammate down. Nox’s eyes glistened in delight as he realized what these two were.
“Well dang it.” The one carrying the other, was a young dragon in the form of a humanoid. She had; purple scales scattered across her legs, face, and arms, wings that were folded up behind her and a long purple tail. She wore pretty basic street-clothes and a cap that was tilted sideways. To them, she appeared younger than Mark but older than the boys and Josephine. She was a bit on the solid side but with her carrying the other individual like she was paper, they knew that she was made of sheer muscle.
As for the other woman that lay on the couch, she wore a grey and white jumpsuit with strips of yellow. Her feet were similar to bird claws and she had bright yellow wings and a feathered tail. She also had blonde hair that was pulled into a pony tail and sat under a grey helmet with a visor on it. The dragon girl, removed the helmet, showing off her helmet hair and some blood trickling down from her hairline. She had apparently been hit hard on the head at some point.
“What happened?” Asked Nox as he ran over to the girls.
“She flew into a window.” The dragon girl said with a sigh.
“Did...not...” Groaned the other. “Stop...telling everyone that...”
“Did you guys get attacked by the lizard people too?” Asked Lux. “We just came back from the skateboard park.”
“We are a part of a team that was trying to handle the situation at the museum...” Said the bird woman. “I got struck and Taiko here, got nervous about it and took me back.” She rolled her head over to Taiko the dragon and said; “You do realize that I have minor self-healing. Right? I would’ve been fine in a few minutes. You could’ve just covered me and I would’ve been back to a decent enough state.”
“AH! I forgot that you had that ability! I’m so sorry, Canary. I just...didn’t think. It’s not exactly my strong suit.” Taiko flailed and then sheepishly poked her index fingers together.
“Ugh...I’m Finch. Not Canary. That’s my sister, who is still out there fighting with the others. Those dang lizard people are so...foreign. I’ve never seen such a massive army of them before. Are they even real? Or are they some construct from some angry sorceress out there somewhere? Because if they are, I’m going to clobber her or him in the head.”
“I don’t know...” Nox said to them. “Though, are there any other medics here?”
“Normally there’s some guy, I forgot the name of. And then there’s Sera. Sera is currently helping the rest of my team at the Museum. I just hope that they don’t find her fun to bat around because the girl can’t even fight. She’s a medic. And that’s all she ever focused on.” Finch sighed as she grabbed a paper towel to dry off her forehead. The blood was no longer dripping down her face as, what she said earlier, was true. She could self-heal.
Finch noticed the awestruck kid standing before her and she said; “I can only heal minor injuries to myself. No, I cannot use it to heal others. Sorry, but it’s a sort of avian trait that my people have. Though, Taiko? Where the heck is Tabitha? She’s supposed to be here.”
“Probably ran off.” Sighed Taiko as she turned to the rest of the crew within the room. She blinked as she recognized Hyper X. She jumped back, nearly stomping on Finch’s foot. “WOAH! HYPER X? I didn’t know he was here!”
“Oh my goodness.” Groaned Finch. “He’s been here before. You idiot.”
“Wow! It’s like meeting a superstar!” She beamed excitedly.
“Sit down before you hurt yourself.” Finch grabbed her by the tail and tore Taiko down to the seat beside her. “Sorry. Taiko...is uh...a bit on the um...strange...side.” She was trying to politely call her partner an idiot without using the actual terms. “She’s young, crazy, and doesn’t know how to relax.”
“She’s a dragon!” Lux chimed as he poked Josephine. “How come you don’t have wings and stuff like that? Though you do have the fiery hair and she doesn’t, that’s actually really cool.” But he never got his answer because all Josephine did was roll her eyes at him.
“Ugh...” Finch sighed as she shook her head. “I hope us barging into the hub didn’t disrupt you guys from anything.” She said to Mark and Ikuki. “Taiko saw me bleeding a bit and just spazzed out. So here we are...at least I’ll be here for the moment.”
“They’re using the scanner.” Taiko pointed out. “Did you guys lose someone? Or are you trying to find the real reason why these things are attacking? None of us could get them to speak to us. All they did was snap their jaws and growl. And me being a flying lizard, basically, I couldn’t understand a single word they said!”

"I'm flattered, but I'm not anything close to being a superstar. Used to think I was, now, not so much." Mark replied to Finch. "But yeah, it's fine. We just got here, too. This place is a sanctuary for all heroes, it's a safe space. Don't ever apologize for barging in." he gave them a thumb's up.
"And we're scanning for a little bit of everything. Kid lost her friend, and we just...dealt with some creatures, in the park." he did not tell them the details of what happened. The adrenaline was starting to wear off, and the realization of what he'd done was starting to sink in. He had a body count now, and that's something that would haunt him for the rest of his eternal life, even if it was justified.
Before he had a chance to say anything more, the front door was kicked open by two more heroes. "WE GOT YOUR MESSAGE." one of them said. He was the one who kicked the door open with more force than anyone of his small stature should've had. He was short and slightly scrawny, and had messy blond hair and bright blue eyes. "WHO NEEDS HEALING??" he rushed to Hyper X and the kids.
"How's your heart?? Did the healing stick? Are you bleeding out, again?? I HAVE BEEN DYING TO KNOW HOW YOU SURVIVED THAT." he grabbed Mark and shook him.
"I'm fine. It's the kids who got attacked." Mark gestured at Lux and Joe. "I patched 'em up best I could, got the wounds sterile and everything. Ikuki did some minor healing just to keep them from bleeding out, but you're the only one able to heal on a deeper level. Heck, if you saved me, this is nothing."
"You owe me an explanation for that, later." he pointed at Mark, then turned his attention to the kids. "Hm. Severe epidermal lacerations. Looks like Ikuki was able to heal the deeper ones, there's still a few that would've needed stitches, if I hadn't been able to get here in time. Okay, hold still. Looks like you got the worst of it, so you're first." he said to Lux, as he clapped and rubbed his hands together. He set both hands on Lux's back where most of the wounds were, and that was it. Nothing spectacular. Just the cuts and scratches healing up and disappearing.
The person who travelled with him, however, leaned forward and winced in pain. He was a much taller man, with short-cut, brown hair. He had cybernetic limbs and eyes, and wore a mask over his nose and mouth. All the cybernetic pieces were black, white and green, the signature colors of Hyper X, and very much had the same style as his suit.
"Sorry. They're kids. You okay?" Genesis looked over at his brother, who gave him a thumb's up. "Everything I heal, my brother feels it. When I healed Hyper X the other day, it almost killed Revelation. He has a cybernetic heart, but that was still a fatal injury. I don't understand how either of them survived it."
Revelation waited until he was sure his twin brother was entirely focused on healing Joe, and signed "I gave the injury to one of those creatures. It probably did something to deserve it." he smirked under his mask.
"What did he say?" Ikuki leaned over and whispered to Mark.
"He said it was no big deal." Mark lied. He knew Revelation walked a very, very fine line between hero and villain. He considered him more of an antihero and most certainly didn't approve of his methods of dealing with criminals. There was a lot he knew about Revelation, that Genesis did not.
"Saw what happened in the park. Had to have been you, we know where all the other teams are spread out. Thought you had rules about killing people?" Revelation signed, to Mark. Due to the many injuries he had taken, he was left unable to speak and could only sign or have his brother translate for him.
"Those weren't people." Mark replied. "At least, I'm going to keep telling myself that. How many more of those things are out there? Why haven't we been seeing it on the news or something?"
"Not as many as it seems. Maybe four more groups, all around the same number of the ones you dealt with, or less. Six or seven per group, most. Three or four, at minimum. Nothing we can't handle, but we don't know where they came from, what they want, or what they are. News probably isn't reporting it, because they don't want people to panic. We've dealt with attacks way bigger than this. Hell, the robots sighted in town is causing more panic than these guys."
"Okay, you two should be good to go!" Genesis said, as he completed the healing process. "You guys were a lot more beat up than I realized. If Ikuki hadn't patched you up on the spot, you probably wouldn't be conscious right now. Or worse."
"So, now what?" Ikuki asked Mark.
"Now we know there's a group at the museum, and we've got people out there taking care of it. Where you part of the museum group?" Mark asked Revelation.
"No, we were part of a residential group. Oddball, Jaguaro, Hydra, myself and Genesis were all fighting them off. Gen and I came here when he got your message, but Jaguaro alone is pretty much wiping the floor with those guys. They can handle themselves. So that leaves the last two groups being downtown and the outlet mall. Nobody's been called there, yet. Gen and I were about to head downtown, you're more than welcome to come."
"Yeah, looks like we're splitting up." Mark said.
"Okay," Ikuki interjected. "The least you can do is tell us what he's saying." she called them both out.
"Four groups, attacking. Two groups are covered. Two more still need people." Mark explained. "Museum and residential have plenty of people fighting these guys. Downtown and the outlet mall don't have anyone there, yet. Genesis and Revelation were taking downtown, Ikuki and I can take the mall. Now we just have to decide who's going with who."

Joe watched as she was being healed. It was the strangest feeling she had as the pain and cuts began to heal and disappear. To her, it almost felt like a cold chill creeping through her body. It even gave her a small chill, which forced her to shake it off. Once her cuts were gone, she looked over her hands and flexed them. Amazed, she said; “Thank you, so much for the heals.”
When Lux’s turn came about, he watched as Revelation was performing sign language to respond to questions being asked. He smirked when Mark said something completely different from what Revelation actually said. He then glanced over to Nox, wondering if he knew what was being said. But unfortunately, Nox didn’t know what Revelation was trying to say.
Lux responded in sign language to Revelation, letting him know that he knew what was being said via hand signs. He got really angry because they hurt me and my friend Joe. That’s why he did what he did. If he didn’t, we would’ve died.
“Lux, what the heck are you doing?”
“It’s called sign language. I learned it when my brother was teaching Nox stuff. A librarian had gotten into an accident and lost her voice when she was really little, so when I would sit in boredom there, she taught me how to sign. It’s pretty handy.” He smirked. “I wouldn’t say that I’m a brilliant mind with it, but I can get around simple conversations. Most of the time, if I don’t know how to say the word, I’ll just spell it out.”
“Also.” He turned to Revelation and Genesis. “Thank you so much for your heals. I feel really great!”
“Well!” Taiko interjected. “Why don’t you have us tag along? Finch and I are really good together. We also can fly. Just uh...if you’re sensitive to sound, please let me know. Because my abilities consist of really loud screams!”
“She has super sonic screaming and sound waves...all of that fun stuff.” Finch waved. “I’m aerial combat oriented but give me a weapon and I’m pretty good.”
“Wait, then what about us?” Lux asked. “What are we going to do?”
“Well...isn’t it obvious? We’re not going with Ikuki and Mark.” Nox said to him. “Those things are too dangerous. So we cannot go.”
Josephine let out a small sigh, wishing that she could go with them in hopes for finding Davis. But she knew that they weren’t going to let her go. So she didn’t even try to fight it. “We can do something here...I guess…” She sighed.
“Darn...Well…” Lux rubbed the back of his head and nodded. “What are we going to do here then? Who is going to stay behind with us?”

Revelation was taken aback slightly, that Lux knew what he was saying. He held out his fist for a bump; he liked this kid's vibes and could see now why Hyper X had originally had he and Genesis down to be their mentors. He wasn't sure what changed, but he wasn't going to protest. He never had any patience for teaching, or kids. However, these guys seemed cool. When Lux explained how he knew sign language, Revelation smirked and threw him a "rock on" gesture.
"Okay," Mark said, planning the split-up. "Finch can come with us, Taiko can go with Genesis and Revelation. That way, we're evened out."
"No." Revelation protested. "Let both Taiko and Finch go with you. My brother and I can handle these guys. Since we're obviously not using morals here, I don't have to hold back." truth was, he had ulterior motives. He just had to wait until everyone else had left.
Mark felt called out and it didn't help his guilt any, but he did his best to keep a cool head. "That was...I didn't have a choice. They would've killed Lux and Joe, and I don't take kindly to anyone hurting kids. If it can be helped, we take care of this with minimal violence."
Revelation just rolled his eyes at that. He didn't always do as he was told, and didn't have any intention of starting, now. "Fine, I'll just give them a little cold." he signed, angrily.
"Don't worry about him, I'll make sure he doesn't do anything dumb." Genesis assured. "He's right, though. You probably need all the help you can get. Your energy levels are low, I can feel how tired you are. Don't worry, Rev and I fight off all kinds of colorful characters, on our own."
"Hm. Fair enough. Don't know how many time-stops I've got left in me, right now." Mark sighed, annoyed that they were right. "Okay, fine. You two, with us." he gestured at Taiko and Finch to follow them. "We'll take the mall. It would be evacuated by now so there shouldn't be any people for your soundwaves to bother." he said as he started to walk out of the house, then turned back to Revelation who was leaned against a wall, waiting for them all to leave. "Are you coming, or should I tell them you'd rather have them delivered here?"
"Sorry, felt one of my eyes tweak out. Running a quick diagnostic. You go on ahead, I'll be right behind you." he signed, giving Mark's group and Genesis the thumb's up to get a head start.
Mark was suspicious, but he knew sometimes Revelation's gear did tend to glitch on occasion. Sometimes he was called to repair it, but oftentimes Revelation could just run a diagnostic on himself and repair it on his own, if it was minor enough. It was nothing new, but something about it just didn't sit right. It was only when Ikuki set her hand on his shoulder to get him to go, that he continued on his way.
Once Mark's group and Genesis had all left out of range, Revelation turned to the group of kids. "They're gone. Wanna beat up some monsters with my brother and me?" he signed at Lux, with a devious smirk.

Taiko and Finch just agreed with whatever Mark and Ikuki wanted to do. In fact, all they wanted to do was get back out there and beat up some lizard men. Those creatures needed to learn not to mess with Earthlings because the heroes will do whatever possible to protect the innocent. And so, they prepared themselves for the departure.
Finch gave Mark a thumbs up and a smirk. “Ready to get going. We can fly after you if needed.”
Shortly after the heroes left and Genesis went out of earshot, Rev seemed to have a devious plan in store as he turned to the boys and Josephine with a plan. Lux grinned when he realized what he had said. Behind him, Nox and Josephine had no idea what was being said as they watched Lux respond back in sign.
”Of course! I don’t want to sit down and do nothing. It goes against everything I’m fighting for. Where do you have in mind?”
“What are you two saying?” Nox asked in suspicion.
“Nothing.” Lux lied.
Nox didn’t buy it as he noticed Josephine snickering at it. “Come on man. Are you planning on something? We need to stay here. You and Joe almost died out there and if we leave and get hurt, Mark is going to have our heads.”
“We’re just going to have a little fun with some of the monsters out there. That’s all.” Lux whispered to him, making sure that Genesis didn’t hear anything from the conversation. He wasn’t sure on how he would handle doing stuff like this.
“Brother...we’re going to get into trouble.” Nox tried to fight him against the idea.
Lux sighed, then had an idea on how to persuade his brother. “You know, we came out here to learn more about what we can and cannot do. We wanted to become the heroes we’re fighting to become. If we don’t do anything now, how are we going to learn anything at all? We’re going to go back to Reese without learning anything new. And this whole thing, would be a wasted trip. Wouldn’t it?”
Nox didn’t like the fact that his brother was trying to manipulate him into going. “I see what you’re trying to do. It’s dangerous and if we get into trouble, Mark’s going to be super mad with us. I’m not going.”
Lux wasn’t giving up on the idea of venturing out. So he said; “Fine. You can stay here and operate the scanners and locate Davis. Inform the others if you discover his whereabouts, unless he’s safe or whatever. Joe and I can go out and do stuff.”
“W-Wait...what? We’re rarely ever without one another.”
Lux shrugged. “We cannot always be partnered up.”
“No. I’m going with you.” Nox stomped his foot. “Someone needs to make sure that you’re not trying to get yourself killed and all.” He then glared at Rev. “Whatever plan you have in store, it better not result in one of us dying. Or I’m haunting you.”
Lux motioned; ”Don’t worry about my brother. He tends to be a bit of a worry-wart. He’s actually pretty good at what he does. He’s likable sometimes.” He then grinned at his brother. ”He’s got skills in battle, he just doesn’t want to use them sometimes. But I’m sure he’ll have fun knocking some creatures around for a bit!”

When Revelation came outside with the kids in tow, Genesis absolutely protested. "Dude, Hyper X said for them to stay here! They're too young to fight these guys!"
"So was Hyper X, when he started out. So were we, when we were homeless and had to fend for ourselves. So was Ripley, when he died." Revelation angrily signed. "Everyone here was 'too young' at some point, but they wouldn't be the people they are now, if they hadn't started out when they did. Besides, we're still technically assigned as their mentors. We're supposed to train them, and we can't do that if they keep getting left behind."
Though only Lux and Genesis could understand him, it was clear by the way he was signing that he was upset. Revelation did not believe in coddling, and was just as hard on his brother when they were homeless and roaming the streets, growing up. They never had a family at all, and had to fend for themselves. Genesis knew this and Revelation did have a valid point, though he didn't feel good about going behind Hyper X's back like this.
"Hnnnugh....okay. You're right. But if Hyper X gets mad and kicks us out, it's entirely on you." Genesis pointed at him. Rev just shrugged, knowingly. "So what he basically said is that we are still technically signed on as your mentors." Genesis translated for Nox and Joe. "We can't really tell you to stay here because we've been through the same thing, growing up. So if Hyper X says anything, I guess he was the one who put us in charge of you, at first."
"Hell yeah." Rev signed.
Since they were the only group without a mode of transport, that left them walking. Thankfully, downtown wasn't too far from the house and there still haven't been any newsworthy reports about the creatures, so it didn't seem like an emergency that they needed to be there immediately. From what it sounded like, the group in the park was the only one that attacked first. Rev looked upward at the sky as he thought about that, curious as to why. Something deeper was definitely going on, and if he had to curb stomp a few of them in order to get answers, he absolutely planned on it.
---------------------
Mark's group, on the other hand, had made it to the outlet mall to find it...relatively empty. Ikuki was gripped tightly onto Mark, as she'd never been on a motorcycle before and it was both thrilling and terrifying. "You can let go. We've been stopped for a while." he said to her.
"Then why does it feel like we're still moving?" she whined, trying to pry herself off him. Finally finding the will to let go, she wobbled off the bike and tried to stand up straight. She took a deep breath in and a deep breath out, attempting to compose herself.
Mark couldn't help but laugh a bit at her, but set his hand on her shoulder and asked, "Are you okay? If you need to stay out here and rest a couple minutes, I won't judge. Don't want a repeat of this morning." he tried not to laugh, but Ikuki could feel the smugness in his tone.
"I'm fine." she assured him. "You were just going a lot faster than I'm used to moving."
"Sorry. I'm kinda used to seeing the world at a standstill." he turned his attention to the mall, looking around the empty parking lot but seeing no signs of the creatures. "I guess we just look around and see if they're in any of the stores. I was expecting an assault, like the ones in the park. Keep your guard up, though." he said, directing it at everyone there.
The truth was, this group wasn't in immediate attack mode. Sure, there were a few pawns scattered about, exactly the same as the park. Some were well-hidden, but others could be seen if one looked close enough. The difference between the groups, however, was this one was being lead by a much bigger one. Their leader was currently inside an arcade, hidden from immediate view of the heroes. He was playing a crane game full of ducks.
He tediously tried and failed numerous times to collect one particular duck, that had three horns and a pointed, reptilian tail, instead of feathers. This duck looked like a dinosaur, and the lead creature wanted it. Instead of commanding the small army outside, he would much rather be playing this game that was full of these fascinating creatures.
"Let me get this correct." the creature spoke, to someone else. "These are real creatures, but they do not all look like this? What is the point of them looking so fascinating, when the creatures are, in reality, boring and plain? It is an odd aesthetic, but I-..." he said, as the claw of the machine finally grabbed the dinosaur duck, and dropped it in the prize hole. The large creature grabbed the duck with his clawed hands and held it up to his face. It was hard to tell whether he was smiling or not, as their faces weren't very expressive, but his eyes lit up with clear joy. "I like it." he finished his sentence.

Nox didn't like the sounds of the idea. He wanted to stay behind where it was safer and let the adults do their thing. They weren't even teenagers yet. The three of them hadn't even gotten close to understanding what their potentials lay. And the worst part of it was, none of them were particularly good at team work. So going out there with a bunch of enemies that were several times bigger and stronger, didn't seem like a good idea. At least not to him.
But Nox knew that Josephine and Lux wouldn't listen to his reason. They'd come up with some asinine excuse as to why their idea would be better. And from the sounds of it, Rev was also on their side and Genesis was somewhat in the middle of it all. So in the end, all Nox could do was sigh and just tag along as well.
“That's fine with us.” Lux said while ignoring his brother for the time being. “Nox and I have been training since we could hold a toy sword in our hands. So we've been practicing for a long time.”
“We're hardly experts.” Nox slammed down with the truth about their training. “Reese is a good tutor but he's holding back. He doesn't think we're worthy of learning more yet.”
“And that's why we need to go out there and face our fears and dangers. WE need to show him that we CAN do things. That we CAN work together.” Lux frowned as he noticed how Nox was seemingly unhappy with the final conclusion about their adventure and added; “We can't keep hiding behind the bigger people all the time. We're never going to grow.”
“He's got a point.” Josephine agreed before turning to Rev and Genesis. “We'll do our best with this educational mission you're bringing us on.” She winked.
With that, the kids followed the brothers out into the “wilds” to see what they could find. At first, Lux and Josephine were fairly unhappy with the lackluster activity within downtown. There were very few civilians walking around, all of them, scared and ready to dart whenever the chance struck. Cars were also somewhat a rarity to find as well. And the air, it felt still and quiet.
Something that was extremely uncomfortable for Nox as he hugged close to his brother and Josephine. He looked around, worried that someone might try and jump them. “I don't like this.” Nox admitted. “It's way too quiet here.”
Josephine placed her hands behind her head and looked up at the two. “So...If you don't mind me asking. What sort of things can you two do? I am fire based and can pretty much light myself on fire. Those two, are only able to sword fight and turn into swords. Which...could be kinda cool if I learn a thing or two about using one.”
Lux elbowed Nox and snickered. “Come on chicken.”
“Pay attention to your surroundings.” Nox hissed at him. “The number one rule of being in an area where you don't know where the enemies are at is, paying attention. They can jump out at us at any given moment and end our attempt of learning rather quickly. And!” He held his finger up at his brother, stopping him from saying anything more. “Don't rely on them. We're not always going to be around someone better than us.”
“Sheesh...” Lux rolled his eyes and looked back to the other two. “So why are we going here again? Were there any reports of the attack here as well?”
– - - - - -
Finch and Taiko were capable of keeping up with the speeding bike. When they arrived at the parking lot, the pair landed beside Mark and Ikuki, looking around at how dead the area was. It was a bit chilling considering the mall was normally bursting out of its seams with people and activity. Now? It was like someone committed a crime there and no one dares to step foot into it.
Taiko nodded to Ikuki and Mark. “Yeah, hopefully we won't find any casualties or captured victims here. Just the idea of locating hostages would be terrifying!”
“I doubt that's what they're here for.” Finch said with a frown as she walked beside Ikuki and Mark. “Have you noticed how they were attacking? Hyper X even mentioned that they seemed very organized. They're not here because they're bored or hungry.”
“Well, I wouldn't taste good. I'm just scales and bones.”
Finch rolled her eyes and adjusted her visor. “So what's the plan of attack? Strike them down and knock them out or something? Locate hostages? See if they're creeping around here for a reason?”
Davis was super thrilled over being able to talk to someone about ducks. He eagerly bounced over to him, carrying a duck that he had just won. It was a plushie that had a terribly stitched pirate hat on it. “Yeah, they're normally green and gray...or something like that. They're very cute when you have food though. Try feeding them sometime! You'll have a hoard of them circling you, quacking at you! I did that to my little sister once. She got scared when twenty of them followed after her...”
He then cheered when the alien guy got his prize. He jumped for joy and clapped his hands with enthusiasm. “That's awesome! You finally got it!”
Davis then said; “I never have been able to come in here with my sister. It's usually really busy here. But now? We get the whole room to ourselves! This is totally awesome, by the way.” He then spotted another game that had an even bigger duck. “OH! Look at this one!” He pointed. “Want to try for that one? I still have some money that I swiped from my younger brother! He won't notice that it's missing.”
Meanwhile....
“WINSTON...WHERE IS MY WALLET?”
“Probably up your ass.” Winston frowned. “Wyatt, you need to stop losing it. This is the seventh time in two days that you misplaced it.”

"These ducks. They...quack?" Kelnar asked as he admired the plush duck that Davis had won. "Quack." he tried to replicate the noise, without having actually ever heard it. "Yes. I like these ducks. I wish for them to continue living on this planet. I believe my people were wrong about Earth. I was told the beings who lived here had ruined it and made it uninhabitable. Based on what I have observed, I see no reason that we cannot live peacefully together. You are...all right, Davis." he said, trying to speak like the humans would. "Perhaps you can show me where these ducks live, and I may offer them nourishment."
Before he could speak about ducks any further, one of the smaller ones bounded inside the arcade, and screeched and warbled animal noises at Kelnar.
"I see. Tell the others that I do not desire conflict, I will gather those who are left and we will retreat peacefully back home, so I might report my findings."
The creature growled and hissed again.
"Oh, they are the same ones who killed the park scouts? That is unfortunate. Those drones had gone rogue once they stopped respecting me. I'm sure once both parties can explain ourselves, we can come to a resolution." Kelnar looked to Davis, and nodded. "I am sorry my drones kidnapped you, but I am appreciative for our time together. Thank you for telling me about ducks."
Before he could make his way out the door, however, the screeching sounds of his drones could be heard, launching an attack at the group. The drone who had come inside the arcade, snarled an angry snarl at Kelnar, before he also bolted out the door to join the others in attack.
"Oh dear. It appears they no longer respect my command." Kelnar sighed, before also heading out the arcade to follow the drones.
Outside, several of the drones were perched on rooftops, lamp posts, cars, and scattered around the parking lot. There were a lot more than Revelation had told them, and they were definitely outnumbered.
"I don't think we can resolve this peacefully." Ikuki said, her back against Mark's, both ready to make a move.
"I'm not...doing that again..." Mark said. "I'm not going to let anyone else get hurt, be it friend or enemy."
"Then what are you going to do??" Ikuki was frustrated at this point, and knew he wasn't paying attention to their surroundings. One of the creatures lunged at them, ready to pounce on Mark. Ikuki rushed in front of him and punched the creature right in the face, knocking it back a few steps but not doing anything more than making it really, really angry. It hissed as it grabbed her arm, and pulled her away from Mark. It drew its sword, ready to slice open her neck, and she was too panicked to think about the best spell to use against it.
Of course, that made Mark angry. He used every ounce of energy he had left to stop time, grab the sword out of the creature's clawed hand, and tying the monster to a lamp post using its own belt. He returned time back to normal, and very nearly collapsed on the spot from exhaustion. His ears were ringing and the edge of his vision was beginning to turn dark. Every time he tried standing up, it felt like a tremendous pressure weighing him back down. He could hear Ikuki calling out for him, but it was hard to see anything that was happening.
He did, however, feel the reverberating footsteps of something much, much larger than the little creatures. The gravel crunched underneath this creature's feet, and Mark could hear the metallic ring of a sword being unsheathed. He could only imagine what was happening, but wobbled as standing upright made him feel sick to his stomach, as the world started to spin. "St...stop...don't hurt them...or you'll end up like those assholes in the park..." he used every bit of energy he had, to speak.
Kelnar looked over at Hyper X, not deeming him in any kind of condition to talk to. However, he did take care of one of the drones that was heading toward him. Had Kelnar not drawn his sword and attacked his own kind, it would have jumped Mark and in his weakened condition, would have torn right through the suit. All Mark could do was watch, unable to do much of anything until he regained control of his senses.
----------------
Revelation, meanwhile, was not paying any attention to the kids' bantering, instead looking up at the buildings above them. Genesis, however, was giving the kids his full attention, not paying attention to their surroundings.
"Oh, um, well, we're really more support. I'm not a fighter at all, I'm just the medic. I can heal pretty much anything so long as I know about it and how it affects the human body. I never considered myself all that smart, but I had to learn about medical stuff in order to maximize my healing abilities." Genesis answered them. "The drawback is everything I heal, my brother absorbs." he thumbed at Revelation. "So not only does it put him in immeasurable pain every time I heal somebody, he can keep every injury, disease, virus, and plague known to man and inflict it on others. It's not an ideal method and I don't like fighting dirty like that, but that's the hand we were dealt."
"I also like to punch people." Revelation signed, sneering underneath his mask.
"Yeah...punching people isn't super ideal, either. Also, Rev and I are telepathic, so we can hear each other's thoughts. It comes in handy when he's giving commands and doesn't have time to sign. Hm." Genesis diverted his attention to their surroundings. "They are right, y'know. Everything seems to be super quiet-"
He didn't have a chance to say anything more. One of the creatures lunged at them from one of the buildings above, but Revelation had been watching. He didn't even flinch as he held his arm out, grabbed the creature by the muzzle, and swung it into the ground with such force that it cracked the concrete they were walking on.
The creature writhed in pain, but before Revelation could finish it off, a second one pounced him and dug its teeth into his left shoulder, causing sparks to start flying and sending a small shock to the creature. Revelation's cybernetic arm was hidden under his cloak, and the creature didn't realize he was biting into metal, not flesh. When the creature jumped back to regain composure, Revelation grabbed the one on the ground and swung it into the other one, sending them both into a wall and creating a giant hole in the bricks.
Genesis ducked as all of this happened, holding his arms over his head to protect himself from being hit by any debris. He felt absolutely useless, as all he can do is heal, dodge and hide. But if he had to use himself as bait to draw the others into the open, then he could absolutely use those abilities to do so.
Revelation stepped out of the hole in the wall, debris falling over him like a dusty waterfall. He held the arm of one of the creatures and at first, it looked like he was dragging a whole body out. Upon closer inspection, however, the arm was no longer attached to the creature. Revelation dropped it on the ground, and looked to the kids and Genesis. "We're surrounded. This was an ambush, they knew we were coming."
They didn't have time to sign, now. Genesis blurted out the rest of his sentence; "Stay close together and keep your backs against each other, don't get distracted and don't break away from the group!"

Davis could only smile as some of the truth about the planet being inhabitable was actually true. There were several areas that humans once lived in, cannot anymore due to war over money and religion, fighting over land and just downright being petty. But he decided to just keep smiling. He didn’t want to be the one to bring down the mood. Because after all, he was in the vicinity of an alien of some kind that could use his spine as a jumprope.
“Yeah, they make some sort of...weird...sound.” Davis attempted to make the quack sound but his version was quite terrible. “Eh...maybe don’t go off with what I tried. It’s...not that great.” He laughed. “I do enjoy you! You’re actually quite neat!”
Then when he mentioned that he didn’t mean any harm, Davis nodded. He actually felt like the guy was telling the truth. After all, he’s alive. “Yeah! I’ll...do my best actually. Some people don’t actually listen to me sometimes.” He laughed, then stopped when a drone came in to report...or something. Davis had no idea what it was trying to say.
As Kelnar was getting sassed by the drone that reported to him, he mentioned that they weren’t listening to him anymore. He started to leave and Davis quickly glanced around the arcade. Debating on whether or not he wanted to go or stay. He may try to get some more ducks for the strange alien guy. But then again, if there were humans on the outside that were causing a ruckus with the drones, he may need to tag along with Kelnar to try and convince them that he, specifically, isn’t meaning any harm.
So he scooped up some of the ducks he won and followed him outside.
Finch landed behind Mark and Ikuki with Taiko standing beside her. The two of them held their hands up in defense, watching the enemies move in towards them. Finch hissed through her teeth, “These guys are making it hard for us to be nice.”
When they got too close, Taiko reacted without thinking. Inhaling as much air as her lungs could handle, she then did a super sonic scream which sent rippling sound waves at the enemies approaching them. They simply got a bit rattled and forced them to stagger back and hesitate before attacking them once more.
Finch elbowed Taiko, “Girl. You are going to make me deaf. Don’t scream next to my ears.”
“I can direct it!” She whined as she looked back at the enemies once more. “What are we going to do?”
Then there was the sound of heavy foot steps. The two girls glanced at one another then over to the source of it all. A massive creature of some kind, moved towards them. Taiko immediately prepared for a shriek but Finch clamped her mouth shut and pointed at him as he crushed one of his own kind. “Look. He’s attacking his own people.”
“Mhhffph...”
“You scream at him and I’m going to claw your eyes out.” Finch warned as she released Taiko from her muted grasp. She then readied her fists, just in case the stranger did decide to pick on them instead. “Ikuki...what the heck is that thing? It’s so big.”
Taiko snorted at Finch’s comment.
“Taiko, this isn’t the time to be a dirty little pervert.” Hissed Finch. “The guy is just so massive, I’ve never seen a creature-“ She heard Taiko laugh again and she quickly inserted her elbow right in between the dragon’s rib cage. Folding Taiko over for the time being. “...You have any idea what he is?”
- - - - -
Before any of the kids could respond, they were ambushed. Lux quickly bounced over to Josephine’s side and readied himself to fight. Nox on the other hand, decided that he wasn’t ready to get into a scrap and decided to transform himself into a weapon for his brother to use. Which then, he floated over to his hand and Lux quickly held him in a battle-ready stance.
Josephine flicked her wrists and ignited her hands into a purple flame. Her eyes narrowed as she watched Rev and Genesis handle the creatures with ease. “Woah! You’re so good at this!” She chimed when she watched one of the creatures being flung into a bunch of others.
“Woah. You need to teach me this stuff!” Beamed Lux as he too was excited for the violent throw down.
Nox on the other hand, wasn’t too fond of the idea of doing any of this. But he said nothing of the sort. And he simply just allowed Lux to use him as protection against these things.
Then Genesis barked an order. Lux and Josephine stood behind one another. However, Lux couldn’t stand too close to her as he was quite familiar with her being able to light herself on fire. “So Joe. Want to become a sword master?” He asked her.
“Not at the moment. I kind of want to burn these things.” She grinned before hurling a fireball at one of them. The ball of flames didn’t do much but it did anger the creature she hit. And it started to make its way towards her.
“Come on you big lug.” She grinned. “Let’s try to take this one down together, Lux.”
“Got it!” Lux then stood beside her, turning his back towards the others.
“Lux! Keep your back to hers!” Nox barked at him. “You have a blind spot and they’re going to go for it.”
Just as he said that, one did take the opportunity to lunge at them from behind. It soared through the air and made its attempt to kill Lux or Josephine from behind. But little did it know that this was all a part of Lux’s plan to get one to come closer. As he swung his brother around and sliced upwards. The blade tore through its wrist, forcing it to back away and yelp in pain.
“Back off, punk! We’re not dealing with you!” Lux shouted at it.
Josephine then slammed her skateboard onto the ground. She readied it, in case she and Lux needed a quick escape. She then blasted a trail of flames at the one she was already working on. “Man!” She growled as she had to inhale again. “I hate that I can’t get my heat hot enough. How the hell can my sister do it and I can’t? This ticks me off so dang much.”
Lux swung again, trying to scare off the one he had already harmed. “Maybe she’s got more dragon blood in her?”
“Probably... She’s better at everything...” Those words alone made her more angry about her situation. She then blasted another stream of fire again. “Damn it!” The enemy reached for her face and instead of blasting fire at it, she chomped down on its hand. It tore their hand away from her, growling at her because it didn’t expect her to have such sharp teeth.
